Postorgasmic illness syndrome (POIS) is a very rare disease characterized by a combination of local allergic symptoms and transient flu-like illness which nearly always occur after masturbation, coitus, or spontaneous ejaculation, and last for 2-7 days. In a previous case report, two patients suffering from POIS received hyposensitization therapy composed of multiple subcutaneous injections with autologous semen which resulted in gradual reduction of symptoms. However, it might request patients’ endurance of pain and discomfort during frequent subcutaneous injections and preceding masturbations to obtain autologous semen used for therapy. Recently, intralymphatic immunotherapy (ILIT) which requires only several injections was reported to yield symptom-relief that occurred faster than subcutaneous immunotherapy and lasted up to 3 years in patients with allergic rhinitis. We report a case of a Korean male with POIS who successfully received ILIT that finally improved POIS-related symptoms.
