Monday, 8 December 2014: 15:35 - 15:55
Sala 3 & 4 (Sul America)

Kathleen C. Barnes, PhD , Johns Hopkins University

Learning Objectives:
(1)To consider progress that has been made to date in gene discovery in the field of asthma and allergies, with a focus on high-throughput and next-generation technologies.

(2)A second objective is to discuss the evidence supporting a modified Hygiene Hypothesis, which suggests that there are co-associations between allergic asthma risk polymorphisms and polymorphisms associated with extracellular parasitic disease, including schistosomiasis.
