Frequently, the ENT specialist establish the diagnose of Vidal-Fernand-Samter syndrom.
Methods:
Between 2007-2012, we identified through 48 patients with billateral nasal polyposis 13 cases (12 females, 1 male), age over 60, with combined pathology (bronchus asthma and salicylic acid allergy). The reasons for ENT presentation were: billateral nasal obstruction and subsequent oral breathing with snorring. Usually, topical corticosteroids treatment is prohibited due to the co-morbidities (diabetes mellitus, depression, glaucoma).
Results:
The short time results are impressive (patient regain the ability of nasal breathing and the snorring diminish). The asthma symptoms decreased on long term follow ups.
Conclusions: The only therapeutically approach is functional endoscopic surgery after complete case evaluation (including CT scan for lesion extension).
