Abstract£º Objective To elucidate the level of serum 25(OH)D in children with recurrent wheezing under the age of 36 months, and explore related risk factors for recurrent wheezing under the age of 36 . Methods sixty-one children aged from 6 -36 months who visited the asthma clinic from November 2012 to March 2013 with recurrent wheezing were selected for the recurrent wheezing group. Meanwhile ,ninty-seven children aged from 6 -36 months who visited the healthcare clinic were selected for the control group . The serum 25(OH)D concentrations were measured by chemiluminescence immunoassay. Medical histroy , physical examination and laboratory data were collected. Results The serum 25(OH)D level in the recurrent wheezing group(14.38±4.35)ng/ml were lower than the control group(24.07±11.05)ng/ml,(F=33.39,P<0.001); The incidence rate of plasma 25(OH)D≤20 ng/ml in the recurrent wheezing group(90%) were higher than that of the control group(11%),(P<0.001) ;Serum 25(OH)D≤20 ng/ml °¢allergy physique and smoking contact history were the risk factors for children with recurrent wheezing under the age of 36 months. Conclusions Lower serum vitamin D level might be associated with the children with recurrent wheezing under the age of 36 months.
