Coral Sea (Fiesta Americana)
Learning Objectives:
The immediate allergic reaction is elicited by allergen-mediated cross-linking of allergen-specific IgE anchored on the surface of mast cells and basophils through the high-affinity IgE receptor. This presentation will focus on how the complexity of the IgE repertoire, ie the combination of individual IgE antibody affinities, IgE antibody clonality, and total and individual IgE concentrations, affects the magnitude of effector cell activation. In addition, the role of IgE repertoire complexity for allergen-specific T-cell activation through Facilitated Antigen Presentation will be discussed.
