Learning Objectives:
Pruritus is a very common symptom and chronic pruritus effects up to 20% of the general adult population. This lecture will review and discuss the problems and underlying causes of chronic pruritus. The session will also provide practical tips and tricks for diagnosing and assessing pruritus. In addition, this lecture will give guidance and advice on how to personalize pruritus treatment in patients with this chronic condition.

The causes and mechanisms of pruritus are complex. However, this complexity opens the potential for more selective and effective treatments for specific types of itch.
