Learning Objectives:
The basic IgE-mediated allergen sensitivity can accurately be determined as basophil allergen threshold sensitivity, e.g. CD-sens. The IgE-mediated allergic inflammation together with different target organ specific sensitivities result in an allergic disease. CD-sens is a quantitative, objective marker of the IgE link in the hypersensitivity chain and should be used for diagnosis, as a complement to provocation tests e.g. to food or drugs, and for follow-up of therapy directed to the IgE inflammation, e.g. ASIT and omalizumab.
